Holiday and Occasion Windsocks
Many people, including me, like to change out our windsocks at holidays … for instance … I like one for St Patrick’s Day in particular since I am part Irish. Part of it too may be that I like green … LOL … and I love my Christmas Tree windsock - it spins and has streamers .. I’ve had it several years and it is still like brand new but then it is only out for approximately a month and a half once every year before being packed away - if I buy a house this year because prices have dropped so much, I will probably also get a new one with a snowman maybe. Easter is another good time to put out a holiday banner, windsock, garden flag or spinner. Thanksgiving used to be a major holiday but hardly anyone decorates for it these days.
I find that rather sad … I loved to see the turkeys, pilgrims, cornucopia and feast decorations. I think I saw one house decorated for Thanksgiving last year while driving to work. Perhaps it is most women now work outside the home and between commute time and all the work raising a family can be … grocery shopping, laundry that never seems to end or be caught up, cleaning the home, loading and unloading the dishwasher, supervising homework, cooking meals … all those can add up to needing to prioritize what gets accomplished in a daily routine and what there just is not time to do. I’ve noticed that many are now starting to not even decorate for the Christmas holidays. Yes there are 9/10ths of neighborhoods with at least the bare minimum of a tree in the window and or a string of lights wrapped around a tree or draped over a bush up to and including places that would put Vegas to shame for all the various displays BUT … that 1/10th is starting to creep up to no decorations showing outside. I think a lot of the change is just how fast a pace we live.
