Wind Power Plants, Power Kites and Plastic Bag Hot Air Balloons
January 30, 2008
I was browsing around and discovered Kite Gen. They were established in 2007 and are based in Milan. They plan or are building (?) or have built and are testing (?) a wind Power Plant that will harvest wind energy / power from altitude winds of the troposphere (um … really high up in the sky somewhere?) - something wind turbines apparently cannot do at a reasonable cost if at all. As you can tell, I did not understand much of what I read but I found it all quite interesting and I think it sounds like a great idea. They plan to use some kind of power kites.
A Quote from their website - About page: “Kite Gen wants to offer more efficient solutions to the severe energy shortage of the planet: cheap renewable energy, in large quantity, with no GHG emission and low land use.”
I discovered Plastic Bags into Hot Air Balloon - there was a picture of the balloon and I was amazed at the marvelous idea of doing that with them. Our local Kroger, Randall’s and even Wal-Mart are offering canvas bags for sale at a reasonable price for us to use instead of plastic bags. I bought two Kroger ones - bright royal blue with their name and logo and they are the kind that are good for cold stuff - it might be some kind of a foil lining … silvery looking. I bought one from Wal-Mart - it is just plain black canvas with text on it - not sure if there is a logo or not - it’s in the car.
We need to harness the wind for our energy as well as using solar power. I hope wind power replaces gasoline and oil! I hope canvas bags replace plastic bags for carrying all our groceries - in my childhood, it seemed like almost EVERYONE carried cloth bags when shopping. I haven’t seen too many people using them again yet … but hope springs eternal!
