Weather Vanes and Dreamcatchers
In Iowa, I saw weather vanes everywhere - in cities, and in the country - on a house or barn roof - I haven’t seen many at all here in Texas … perhaps they are here and I just haven’t noticed them. But it seems … odd .. to me after seeing them everywhere in Iowa for so many years. I loved to watch them spin in windy weather … and they usually always made this creaking noise that went right through ya or perhaps a screeching sound if really rusty.
One thing I have seen a lot of here that I didn’t in Iowa are dreamcatchers. They are for sale all over the place - nearly everywhere you go shopping almost and I see them hung up on patios and eaves in so many homes outside or on the inside of windows or doors. Maybe it is a regional thing … most are quite lovely and eye-catching - driving past them, I have no idea if they are well made or not, what they may be made of or how long they last when kept outside in the weather … but I bet they do not make weather vane noises when spinning in the wind LOL if they are not metallic.
