Storms
Storms are full of wind generally … tornadoes, cyclones and hurricanes in particular but also thunderstorms. Some storms have more wind than others but wind is an expected weather effect. Some storms will knock down trees, tear roofs off or flatten an entire house in the space of one breath. Iowa was part of Tornado Alley … not the worst by any means but it gets it’s unfair share of wind storms … all year round. Wind does not care if it is spring, summer, fall or winter … winter wind has a nasty bite while summer wind can be a hot oven blast … fall and spring wind storms can be anywhere in between those two temperature extremes.
Watching wind storms blow garbage cans down the street or patio furniture through backyard fences can be quite unsettling … during a storm like that, you just do not know if you will be safe or not. Being at sea in a sailboat during even a mild wind rainstorm does not sound like a lot of fun to me even though I would love to learn to sail - I would be a fair weather sailor avoiding stormy weather!
