Texas Beaches for Kite Flying
There are approximately 600 miles of beach coastline in Texas according to the TravelTex.com website. There are lots of other things to do at the beach than just fly kites but my favorite is still dancing with the tide with a kite in the air and kite winder in my hands.
It is an hour and a half drive for me to go from my apartment in Katy Texas down to Galveston plus last I heard a few months ago .. .they were still working on the Causeway - I do not know if they have it done yet or not and right now, I am way too busy at work to even hardly breathe let alone drive down there. Galveston Island is a glorious place to fly kites! There are many other places to do it too but the tourists usually head for the Seawall area for kiting. This weekend (January 27, 2008) is Mardi Gras in Galveston week-end.
When it gets to be nice weather again … I want to drive down to South Padre Island one week-end … I’ve never been down there and I heard the beach there is beautiful. I’ve got to get me a new kite for this summer - I bet Miss Sugar Plum will be a lot of fun while I am flying a kite - hopefully it won’t scare her - I didn’t go kite flying last summer - I was too busy. But I am making time for it this summer!
