Galveston Beach is a great place to fly kites - I’ve even seen the power kites down there a few times when there was enough wind - they are so wonderful to see - a person hanging from a giant kite (glider maybe?) flying through the air like a bird - if I were younger - I would definitely be learning that! I’m not sure if I have the courage to try to do it these days - I’m not the most coordinated person in the world and I cannot swim so if I were going to do it - I would have to wear a life vest for the Gulf … and whatever else the power kite fliers use … my daughter would probably laugh at me … I wonder if my grandson would laugh or if he would think it was kewl and want to learn to do it too?

Anyone who has been to the beach knows how much fin and entertaining it is to be there enjoying the wind … the water … the sun … the kite flyers … the sailboats … the wind surfers … the sea surfers … the hang and kite gliders on high wind days … just going and watching is a good thing too … I love to see the people out flying kites all over the beach - right now it is too cold for me (January 2008) but I am sure there are people down there enjoying the wind and flying kites … maybe even power kiting if there is enough wind.
