Hurricane Winds
September 25, 2008 on 2:55 pm | In Wind Passion | No CommentsHurricane Ike blew through the Houston Texas area in September 2008 … the winds were 100 + mph … I certainly was not out flying kites in that wind in the day time let alone at night time … LOL … but I considered it while looking at my kites … but I decided I was not ready to get myself blown to kingdom come or worse by the hurricane force winds.
Last year I had bought a gorgeous Viking Ship kite but never took it out of the package [deliberately] so after I bought my house and moved into it, I put the kite together and now it is sitting on top of my refrigerator. It is lovely though I nearly broke some pieces putting it together - I am NOT handy at putting things together - it was a me thing, not a kite-maker thing.
My daughter, son-in-law, grandson and step-grandson came for dinner last Sunday evening … I made lasagna … my grandson did not like it but everyone else did … and my son-in-law noticed my quite large Viking ship on the top of the fridge - ya cannot help but see it when sitting at that spot at the kitchen table - and wanted to know if it was a kite. Of course I said yes since it is … I do not plan to ever fly it - I bought it to decorate in my house … and it seemed to me that the kitchen and on top of the refrigerator was a perfect spot to keep me from loading the top of the fridge down with eyesore junk - now I have a Viking Ship - Vikings were known to plunder and so it pairs up quite nicely in my mind with the kitchen and food storage.
