Hot Air Ballons
For several years, the Balloon Federation of America’s National Hot Air Balloon Championships were held in Indianola Iowa and currently (January 2008) the National Balloon Classic is held there annually and The National Balloon Museum is located there as well. Iowa is home to many hot air balloonists too.
I never drove down there from Des Moines to see it up close and personal - too much traffic - that was BEFORE I found out the true meaning of traffic jams (Houston Texas has REAL traffic jams!) I always could see the balloons if I drove to the southern part of Des Moines - they were glorious flying in the wind … among the clouds … it looked like so much fun! I see balloons flying around here in the sky lots of the time too … sometimes one alone floating through the sky or maybe 5 or 6 spaced out heading the same direction - just a couple weekends or so ago, (January 2008) there were 2 hot air balloons flying near the Katy Mills Mall. I haven’t ridden in one but I would like to do so. That is on my list of things to do before I die
